Day Thirty Two

Furrgus

We were up with the birds this morning, well with the exception of Craig and Dugal of course.

Both Zita and Niamh had early in the morning commitments so we all scrambled about trying not to get in each other’s way.

With their departure we reviewed the neighbourhood for a while, poking suspicious piles of leaves with our walking sticks.

That built up our appetites and by that time Little Victories was open so we availed ourselves of some breakfast delights.

It was another quite unusually warm day so we took advantage of it and wondered around the neighbourhood over towards the canal before returning home.

I find three or four chocolate croissants are enough to sustain me on such walks. Festis restricts himself to two.

I had always said that much self control is bad for your soul, but he has always gone his own way.

When we got home Craig was on his second cup of coffee and Dugal was deep in The Times crossword.

Fortunately my book on Brochs arrived so I happily settled in for the day.

I must say reading from a warm weathertight home those Brochs look a tad chilly. Even for the Northern Isles.

Now without Miss Poppy to continue to continually remind him Craig often delays his breakfast until nearly lunchtime.

Our hints seem to fall on deaf ears unfortunately.

So we were quite gratified to see that Craig and Zita were about to connect with some breeders.

So they can find a suitable companion for our diminished family.

The squeak in the Buick disappeared and has resurrected itself in Craig’s wheelchair. Seems very suspicious to me.

This afternoon, not wanting to miss the fleeting beautiful weather all three of us went for a walk.

And we ended up at Zita’s friend’s restaurant for coffees and a shared muffin.

It was quite a successful afternoon if I do say myself.

This afternoon Miss Poppy’s Veterinarian, Doctor Weller called Zita to say how very sorry he and all his staff were at her death.

Zita had sent them a thank you card, thanking all of them for taking such good care of Miss Poppy for all her years.

She was never afraid to go to visit him which speaks for itself.

He said that Miss Poppy was their favourite patient, and no, he does not say that to everyone. She was a very special dog.

As if we did not know that. But it was nice for others to know we are right.

Zita came home a bit early and was followed by Niamh and Tarryn.

Fresh from buying university books at the used bookstore.

They did nor stay here though, because Tarryn’s aunt Mrs. Hellen was taking them out for dinner.

But before Niamh left she came upstairs to get a new pair of loudspeakers as she had broken the little ones.

So Craig gave her much bigger ones.

That should be interesting.

So Craig and Zita had a quick dinner tonight before their detective program.

We are back to Scrabble as Dugal has had a run of poor luck in Mahjong.

Not up to me to comment.
