Day One

Well first things first, let me introduce ourselves.

I am Festis Blackthorn-Badger, the other handsome fellow is my twin brother Furrgus.

Upon our retirement from Her Majesty’s service, not willingly mind you, we emigrated to Canada.

In order to help our Uncle Dugal who has been Maintaining The Peace here for more years then we have been around.

But now we have been drafted in to help with the home security.

That was our dear friend Miss Poppy Taylor’s responsibility for many years but now she has left us someone has to step up and attempt to fill the void until her replacement arrives.

And until that happens that filler is apparently us.

When I asked Uncle “Why the three of us?”

He replied

“Because we’re here laddie.

Nobody else. Just us”

So please bare with us as we try to do the best we can.

Now until our unfortunate retirement I was Commander Sir Festis Blackthorn-Badger of Tioram, RN, DSO etc, etc. lately of the SBS.

Furrgus my twin, who sadly lacked sea legs and thus was not fit to join the Senior Service, had to settle being Colonel of the Scots Guards, that is until the unfortunate incident.

But Uncle Dugal pulled strings at Horse Guards and anyway the bodies were never found.

Be that as it may, the poor Sasanachs were getting quite nervous around him, so we took up Dugal’s suggestion and emigrated.

We left the castle in cousin Morag’s firm hand and now here we are.

And I must say our accommodations here are a lot less drafty than our pile on the Loch.

The windows here actually keep the rain outside.

But the recent and very sad departure of our gallant Miss Poppy rather complicated our plans.

Both of us were about to offer our experience to those gallant fellows in Ukrainian service.

But Mrs.T Zita was quite appalled.

She said that it was grossly unfair to leave Dugal with all the responsibilities now that Poppy has left us.

And upon sober second thoughts and a nice peach pie, followed by some of her second best whiskey we decided to stay.

Then she said that we also had to establish a new Blog.

And at the time agreement was the only avenue to second servings of pie.

So here we are.

So here is the initial Craig Street Blog by Festis and Furrgus Blackthorn-Badger.

Welcome aboard.
