Furrgus
The snow had stopped by the time we roused ourselves.
But it was nearly as windy as home in Scotland. But with snow added.
We dressed for the weather, boots, Balaclavas and all.
We did not expect to find any intruders but one can never be too careful. The Tajiks taught me that.
Fine fellows when your not in their sights.
We continued our expedition up to Bank street as Little Victories was closing early, being Christmas Eve and all.
But we wanted to get our Christmas supplies and wish the charming staff a very Merry Christmas .
While we were out Professor Jill dropped by with her annual bag of home made doughnuts.
And by the time we returned Miss Ashley had already delivered her Christmas cake.
Things were looking up.
But we received a notification from the Royal Mail that all traffic from the British Isles had been suspended due to inclement weather.
So much for the hamper from Harrods.
And Zita got a note say the last package would not arrive in time for Christmas Day.
As the furious snowstorm out west has grounded all aircraft. Now that is disappointing. I hope it was not for us.
Niamh was very busy wrapping up her presents for friends and family.
Emmet had finished yesterday and was looking very self satisfied.
And when we had thawed it was obvious that things were hopping in the kitchen.
There was a bevy of pie shells waiting to be filled and most importantly the base of the Pavlova was there.
So tonight’s soirĂ©e is a guaranteed success. At least from our perspective.
But the wind created some amazing snow drifts which had filled in our walkway and the cars.
So Zita, shovel in hand, went out to clear an escape route, should it be required.
Then Zita went to bring Craig’s mother her Christmas gifts.
And we accompanied her halfway and then turned to the south to continue our afternoon sweep of the neighbourhood.
Craig was finishing up his wrapping duties for the day.
So the preparations for the annual Christmas Eve party continued, as we noted the wine selection was ready.
After visiting Craig’s mother Zita made a final visit to Whole Foods to complete her pre-Christmas shopping.
When we got home there were rum eggnogs awaiting.
Christmas is upon us. Thank goodness.
At long last Craig remembered to put up our Christmas Stockings.
We were a bit afraid to mention just it in case his mind is turning to turnips.
But the preparations were well underway when we left for the penultimate patrol of the day.
We scheduled it a bit early so we do not miss any of the party as the table was overflowing with food. My goodness.
And Niamh was contacting NORAD so we could keep tack of Saint Santa.
So everything, including us, were in place to welcome everyone for an excellent Christmas Eve party.
