Day Sixty Nine

Festis

We all awoke to a rather cold morning.

Unfortunately it seems as if the unseasonably warm weather has left us.

So we got our wind proof leggings out and put those hand warmers in our sporrans and were out the door as Zita called her sister.

There no signs of varmints in the yards, so taking advantage of their early opening specials we went to the Sunshine Gill for breakfast.

When we got home Zita was about to drive Niamh to The Three Trees.

As you may expect this is a very busy time for them.

They have lots and lots of smelly candles for sale I understand from Miss Tarryn.

They are not the sort of candles for lighting up the castle when the generator fails.

And our castle’s plumbing or it’s heating do not really encourage lengthy candlelit baths.

So we passed on these, tempting though it was.

Craig was up early enough to make his coffees for his breakfast with his old friends.

But when Zita got home she brought him raisin toast.

Craig has to be regularly reminded that an espresso or two does not actually constitute breakfast.

No matter what he would like to think. If there no butter or icing involved it can no be breakfast.

Then Zita talked to her brother Ciaran in Spain.

Fortunately it is not cold at all in Spain but it snowed again in Ireland.

And as in Scotland snow tires are a rare commodity over there.

And you cannot find a real snow shovel there for love nor money.

So we think everybody best just stay at home and practice their baking skills.

Though in Cousin Morag’s case she just requests cook make up six or seven dozen scones to be distributed at tonight’s ceilidh at the pub.

Noblesse oblige you understand.

No passing off those Tesco industrial scones for home made by our Morag let me assure you.

After having talked to her family Zita got the vacuum cleaner out to finish cleaning the house.

We took the opportunity to go on our afternoon patrol. Lest we fell under the spell of the cleaning priority.

Between the three of us we raised the Christmas tree and placed it in the corner, along with the snow pusher.

We were concerned that if the tree was laying down critters might try to hide in it.

Then we went up to bank street to see to get our imagination involved in what remains of our Christmas shopping.

Fortunately as we passed the Bridgehead Coffee shop we saw they were just putting out fresh muffins.

So we decided to warm our toes and to test the muffins all at the same time.

When we returned cleaning was completed and we settled in for an afternoon nap.

Craig turned down the offer for an afternoon walk as it had not gotten much warmer unfortunately.

Then Zita took her car to The Three Trees.

So Niamh can use it tonight to go to a Christmas party at Miss Linsey’s house.

Zita used the opportunity to look at all the very beautiful things in the shop.

Before walking home.

Craig and Zita had a refrigerator pizza for dinner. But Zita put extra cheese on top to customize it.

Then they watched an Australian detective program and we settled in with the Times crossword. It is an ensemble effort.
