Day Sixty Two

Festis

Well it was a rainy windy morning so we had a rather truncated patrol.

We confined ourselves to the immediate vicinity before going to Eddy’s diner for breakfast.

On the way we noticed that the stores are filled with the joys of Christmas.

When we got home Zita was checking in with her parents in Dublin.

They too are getting ready for the Christmas season.

Niamh attended a raucous concert in Toronto with Aidan. He sent us a photograph.

Apparently it was their favourite musical group.

I suspect their ears are still ringing. Ahh youth.

Getting themselves into the spirit of Christmas excess Zita brought Craig some pecan pie to have with his coffee this morning.

She offered to add ice cream but Craig did not want his old friends to see such premature overindulging.

So he contended himself with two cups of coffee and the pie as they all continued to resolve the world’s problems.

Perhaps they should try stronger coffee as the world seems to be ignoring their solutions.

Zita got her recipe book out as today was the day to start making her world famous Christmas cakes.

So the kitchen is chockablock with tins and tubs of ingredients.

And as the kitchen was not available to us we took Dugal out for lunch.

We avoided Landsdowne because the traffic is disastrous due to the Christmas craft fair.

So we went up the street to the Irene’s Pub for a few servings of fish and chips.

It was just the very thing for a blustery rainy day I must say.

Though fortunately it is unseasonably warm again.

We did not even have to find our gloves.

We did not get home until quite late as we had to wait out the rain.

Fortunately Irene’s had plenty of other choices on their menu.

We had the Nachos and an extra order of chips for Furrgus.

Did you know that Miss Alice’s father played his guitar there when he was visiting Canada?

Well before Emmet and she met. What a coincidence I tell you.

The world is a strange place.

Dugal is a bit disappointed that Emmet has not yet requested even a small team of assassins.

But hope springs eternal.

Craig had a very relaxing feet soaking this afternoon while we were out.

And by the time we got home Tom had left some new programs for the television.

Including two on the SAS. Oh dear me.

Now Dugal will want to watch obsessively.

To to make sure they got it right, having been there before the very beginning with Long Range Desert Group.

He and that madman Bagnold started it all, with their very very pink trucks and all.

But it quite justified all of Uncle’s time at Oxford, as he came up with that motto of theirs - Non Vi Sed Arte.

Words he has lived by ever since.

I think that was where he got the MC, or maybe it was Borneo. It was a while ago anyway.

On our arrival the kitchen was saturated with the smells of Christmas baking.

What better environment to have with our just before dinner time nap I must say.

There was even eggnog in the refrigerator. I must say things are getting very Christmasy around here.

Which all in all is a very good sign.
