Furrgus
Both Mrs. T and Miss Niamh were out early, as Niamh had her early class before she went to work.
So as soon as they left Furrgus and Dugal did a quick reconnaissance before going to Ichiban.
To get those cheese buns as soon as they came out of the oven.
I busied myself with the Christmas cards.
Mr. T was up earlier than usual testing a new Italian espresso.
But when the two returned he declined even one cheese bun.
I think I should mention this to Mrs. T.
Who would turn down an Ichiban cheese bun I ask you.
Unless they were quite under the weather.
So I shall mention this to her when she returns home tonight.
We cannot count on Mr. T ‘fessing up if he is unwell I do say.
As usual our Niamh was working at The Three Trees today.
Now that is where we bought three score of beeswax candles to illuminate the Christmas dinner back at the castle.
Beeswax candles do not blow out so easily.
An absolute necessity in the long gallery let me tell you.
And today is Master Emmet and Miss Niamh’s grandad’s birthday.
And they still had him getting their Christmas tree ready for decorations. My goodness.
But it does appear to be a bit small, though commendably bushy I must say.
I hope he got a birthday cake.
Dugal says he spent his 91st making the best of it with the 21st Lancers at Omdurman.
He still complains about not having even a taste of birthday cake and had to be satisfied with a flask of Churchill’s second rate brandy.
Perhaps Mr. Kavanagh got some brandy too.
Dugal says that Miss Poppy’s Christmas list is completed. To my relief.
And Festis has copied down the accompanying notes which she had dictated and are to be included with each present. Thank goodness.
After the debacle with the raccoon I would not wish to be making another apologetic report to her. Let me tell you.
Our Emmet was teaching at Saint Francis Xavier again today.
Right from his extremely small office at the university in Cork City.
I certainly hope he tidies it up.
When Zita got home she was very tired.
Because this is the week of the Gala and everybody has lots to do. All the time.
We offered to volunteer and help, but she was afraid no one might understand our accents.
Which would be very embarrassing for them.
Mr. and Mrs. T had a lovely dinner before they went to watch their mystery program
We had not finished last night’s Mah Jong tournament so we cleared the table so we could restart.
