Day Sixty Seven

Festis

When we got home from a very early patrol Zita and Niamh were just finishing their breakfast.

Zita informed us that the Gala had gone swimmingly.

There had been no observable disasters and not one case of food poisoning.

But she needed to go back and retrieve all their equipment and supplies.

So she drove Niamh to her university and then went about her business.

We noticed, from Miss Tarryn’s morning photograph, that there are even Christmas trees at the university, yet none has arrived in our house.

Then it dawned on us that perhaps the tree is another of our undiscovered responsibilities.

My goodness we best get that cleared up right away.

When Craig was up it was time for our mid morning patrol and a trip to Eddy’s dinner for breakfast.

We feel the house is safe enough for all of us to be absent if he has had his first espresso.

Last night we were quite startled by a sudden noise from downstairs.

But Dugal, drawing on vastly more experience in such matters immediately identified it as a champagne bottle being opened.

So he rushed, well rushed is a rather optimistic description, rushed downstairs to investigate.

Well it appeared that Miss Tarryn had brought over a bottle of Italian Champers.

To celebrate the beginning of university exams.

And it went off with a cinematic explosion.

Fortunately only a little hit the rug so there was enough for us to ensure the quality. Thank goodness.

Then Niamh and Miss Tarryn made Christmas cookies to go with the champagne. There were enough to share.

Enough that Craig ate the remainder with his first coffee.

Just after we returned from the early afternoon patrol Zita reappeared,  having finished for the day.

So she and Craig decided to go out for lunch as it was still rather nice out.

Much to our surprise it was warmer here than in Cork.

So I checked up on Emmet to make sure that it is still above zero in the very little apartment.

But Emmet was so excited the weather was of currently no consequence.

Because one of their papers is in a very important magazine.

And it is being published tomorrow. In Ireland. So they have not noticed the cold at all.

And there are even headhunters in this paper too. It said so right at the very beginning.

Heroes of Their Time: The Development of Heroism in Early Irish Literature.

Abstract Keywords: Hero, Celtic, Irish, Medieval, Headhunting, Warrior

It is most certainly bound to be a best seller with headhunters and heroes in it. My goodness.

Maybe they will make it into a television movie. We could rent out the castle.

Heroes always need a castle. This is if Cousin Morag has nothing planned.

Now wouldn’t that be an adventure let me tell you.

Our Poppy will be so very proud of him. She listened to nearly every word many many times over.

Craig and Zita had only a light supper as they had had a very large luncheon at The Wild Oat.

You cannot really leave there without feeling just a bit stuffed.

It is the very nature of the place.

And we found out that Niamh and Tarryn had volunteered to get the Christmas tree tonight.

So we did not even have to expose being out of the loop. A close call.

Craig and Zita went to watch television early tonight so the dining room table was free and our poker night could start early.
