Day One Hundred and Twenty Six

It was back to work for everyone today.

So that in mind, we went on dawn patrol at, well dawn.

Since recently we had limited ourselves to the immediate area, due to the cold, we broadened our explorations today.

We did not expect to find anything untoward so we were not surprised to find a calm but frozen neighbourhood.

With several cars unwilling, or unable to start.

After our thorough inspection we trooped off to Little Victories for some warming coffees and a brace of chocolate doughnuts.

Dugal ordered three of the cream filled verity, naturally.

Our experience has shown that the early bird get the best choice of doughnuts let me tell you.

Since we are regulars they often hide our favourites for us, if we are a tad late.

We meandered home today as it was only cold not life defeating cold.

When we got there everyone, including Craig were up and busy.

Niamh was studying in the living room with Miss P to keep her feet warm.

Zita was deep into meetings and Craig was about to make his second espresso.

Seeing that everything was well in hand we had our first nap of the day.

We did notice this morning that Miss Pancake’s ears seem to becoming floppy rather than a bit vertical.

We hope she does not mind.

We got up just before lunchtime to find that very Miss Dog fast asleep in the den, keeping Craig company.

After lunch Miss Pancake took Zita for a walk around the block, relieving us from going on afternoon patrol.

Though we did notice that it is difficult to get her into her brand new harness.

Because she is growing so fast. My goodness.

And Zita just heard that Miss Poppy’s Doctor Weller is not going to retire, he is going to a new little animal hospital.

Now that is good news.

Miss Poppy loved Doctor Weller. So now Miss Pancake will have her own doctor too.

When they got back Zita went back to her meetings and Miss Pancake decided to keep Craig company.

With her orange thing.

When Zita for her doctor’s appointment the four of us had the honour to help Miss P maintain the watch.

As it is said in our favourite book. “We are the watchers of the wall, the shield that guards the homes of men.”

It is a big responsibility, and with Miss Pancake here less than three weeks, who could expect her to do it alone.

But when Niamh got home Pancake decided that she should share the sofa with Niamh.

The resulting discussion woke us.

As Zita had yet another after dinner meeting, dinner was eggs and chips.

The perfect standby dinner in our experience. And we have had lots.

When the meeting was over Zita and Pancake took the opportunity to go for their evening walk.

We got out the Monopoly board and this time I distributed the money.

To avoid the previous night’s accusations.
