Day One Hundred and Sixty Seven

Festis and Furrgus

What ructions this morning.

Apparently, we being out of the loop with Mrs. T being absent, were quite unaware that it is Miss Tarryn’s Twenty Fifth today.

Upon returning from evening patrol we unavoidably overheard Niamh taking to Miss Sach about a surprise breakfast party after Miss P’s school.

Well before anyone could say a word, Lee and Cara were added to the guest list, quickly followed by Miss Lily and Miss Emily.

Before our very ears a breakfast shindig had evolved into an extravaganza, complete with decorations and cakes.

We quickly went to sleep before we were somehow dragooned into this. My goodness.

We left before Niamh, Tarry and Miss Pancake arose.

Experience gave us forewarning of being spontaneously tasked with the impossible.

So we advanced our patrol and decamped in haste.

When we returned Craig was overseeing Miss Sach’s decorations and making her sustaining coffees.

We found it necessary to inspect Dugal’s holdings in the basement.

Miss Pancake

I knew a secret and I could not tell Miss Tarryn. Ha.

Because we had a surprise delicious after school breakfast for her birthday.

Because today is her birthday.

So this morning after we went for a lovely all over walk we had our together first breakfast.

I gave her happy birthday hugs.

But I did not tell her about the secret party. Ha.

Then it was time for my school. And it was a brand new class. With new other dogs. Oh dear.

And my friend Zita is in way far away.

So Tarryn came with Niamh and me. That was a good idea.

And when we got home everybody was here. For the surprise. Ha.

And she was very very surprised. Ha. Good for us.

But they were very loud.

I was very very good at school.

I did my homework perfectly. My teacher told me so. Ha.

When it was time for my lunch Craig had to tell everybody to move.

Because there was no room in the kitchen for my own bowl. Oh my goodness.

Everybody was in the kitchen cooking a giant delicious special brunch.

So there was no room for me.

Craig just stayed in the den until everything was all cooked. Ha.

Zita is still in far away Ireland but sent me a sad picture.

Her parents do not have a fierce dog like me to mind their garden.

So very nasty cats come and steal their beautiful flowers. Oh my goodness me.

That is not all right.

Minding our lovely garden will be my job when all the snow goes away.

Then I will big and scary too. Ha.

Miss Poppy had to guard the garden all the time, because of the awful squirrels and the giant raccoons.

And sometimes even the very smelly skunks.

It is a very important job in my house. It is known.

Before our surprise lunch we sang the happy birthday song for her.

But I did not know the words. So I did not sing.

I do not think anyone noticed because they were very loud all by themselves.

Then we had our giant brunch.

With lots and lots of everything, even pancakes and lots of bacon and sausages too. Oh my goodness me.

And everybody except me and Craig had fizzy champagne too.

Craig had his very own glass of lemonade.

When he finished his lunch he went in the den to watch the fast cars racing.

Sometimes I went in to visit him.

But lots of times I had to mind all our birthday party guests.

Because they were all in the dining room, making beautiful bracelets. All by themselves. Ha.

Craig told me that friend Zita went shopping with her sister today.

In a little town. But it was still near Dublin.

It has its very own castle. Ha. That is a good town.

Poppy now has her very own castle.

Mister Saint Newton told me.

And it is in the middle of a lake filled up with ducks.

And it has a goes up and down bridge.

And lots of bed rooms for when there are visitors. Ha.

Festis and Furrgus

We stayed downstairs until the music was turned down enough that we hold hold a conversation with the guests.

When we appeared, although brunch was finished, there was a basket of bacon and some fruit left over.

The entire birthday party was sitting on the floor making jewelry for each other.

But we noticed an obvious lack of diamond and rubies. Which was probably just as well considering.

Miss Pancake was in the midst of the multitude ensuring proper decorum.

Thank goodness it was her responsibility, not ours.

We wished Miss Tarryn the very best of all possible birthdays.

And then left to check out the neighbourhood before visiting Ramen Isshin.

The day had turned quite cool, so a few pots of ramen had a definite appeal let me tell you.

Miss Pancake

I was so busy this afternoon.

There were eight ladies here for me to mind. And even Craig in the den too.

Mister Tom brought us new detectives but he did not come in because it was too loud. Oh dear.

But then I had a nice nap in the middle of everyone.

Going to school makes me a bit tired.

After everyone went home, Niamh and Tarryn went to Sach’s apartment to make their fingernails beautiful.

I could not go because it was dinner time for me and Craig.

Craig did not have a diner. He had breakfast instead.

Because there were some extra Scotsmen scones.

And they were from Festis and Furrgus’s very favourite Ichiban bakery. Ha.

So Craig had some for a delicious dinner. I got some too. And I got to lick the plate.

Then we went in the den and Craig watched a program all about Vikings in Scotland. Oh my goodness me.

So I had my after dinner nap on the comfy sofa.

When Niamh came home it was time for us to go downstairs for our bedtime.

Ha. That is a good time for everybody.
