It was very hot outside today. Even before breakfast.
Because today is Summer. Niamh told me so. So it is true.
After Zita went to the other office Miss Sach came to visit me. And we went to visit Lee.
And I got a very big peanut butter treat on a spoon. Ha.
Then everybody went off to do their work.
I stayed here to mind Craig, and when we looked out my watching window we saw two very big crows.
They were very having a big drink from the for birds bathtub. It is very hot outside. Even for birds.
I stayed in our nice and cool house.
And my watching chair is right in front of where the cold wind comes from. Ha.
So I had a very nice nap until it was my lunchtime.
Festis and Furrgus
Yesterday we decided to skip the afternoon patrol as the temperature had soared to an unfortunate degree.
So just after Mr and Mrs. T had gone to bed we ventured forth. It was only warm by then, and not uncomfortably so.
But being stuck in the house for most of the day, and having missed dinner we went up to Bank Street to see what was what.
Then as we meandered along the street, Dugal came up with the brilliant idea that we should go to the Wine Bar.
And their patio was open, and fortuitously we arrived just in time to catch a table as other patrons were leaving.
At Uncle Dugal’s suggestion we all ordered the steak and frites and an appropriate wine. It is after all, a wine bar.
When we had devoured the excellent dinner, we looked at the menu for a dessert, but found a bit of inspiration in the aperitif section.
They had bacon wrapped dates. I could not believe it.
Ignoring all the etiquette of dinning we ordered six plates of them.
Soon a young lady arrived and unexpectedly Dugal arose from his chair to give her a big hug.
Now this is not as unusual as one might think, uncle has always proved irresistible to young women.
Especially if they happen to be titled Italians. But that could fill a book.
Then we noticed that he had remained standing, taking the hint we arose also.
Dugal then presented us to a Miss Katie.
We were on our best behaviour and Furrgus asked if she could join us.
She thanked us but she said it was a busy time of night for them.
When she went back into the bar, Dugal said that Miss Katie was one of our Niamh’s dancing friends.
Then it struck us, we have heard Young Niamh mention this Miss Katie for ages, but now we could put a face to a name. Which is always useful.
After finishing the dates we were about to leave, when a bottle of rather lovely Armagnac appeared on the table, complements of the house.
Well that was extremely hospitable of them we thought.
It was not until we were half way home that Dugal thought to mention that not only was Miss Katie Niamh’s friend, she was Mrs. T’s friend Sue’s daughter.
Well it is a small world.
And we were nearly home, after beating several suspicious bushes with our walking sticks, when Dugal bothered to mention that Miss Katie’s parents own the Wine Bar.
Now one might think that Dugal would have briefed us when chose it for our before bedtimes repast.
But uncle lives in a world where unnecessary sharing information is anathema.
All those years as a Political Officer in the Raj have rather tainted his view of life we are afraid.
Miss Pancake
After my lunch I went outside to have a long sniff. But I could not stay because I started to melt.
A man came to our door with a package and Craig said there was a present for me in this package. Oh my goodness.
But I cannot see it until Zita comes home. I do not know why.
Since Craig was just busy writing I just had a very nice afternoon relax.
Right on the cool floor.
Craig and I always have relaxing days.
Mister Tom talked to Craig this afternoon before Mister Kirk is moving way to where I was born.
Because he has a new job. Now he needs to know how to get Mister Max there with him.
And they knew I had two aeroplane rides when I was very little.
And wanted to know about those nice people who got me the right aeroplane. The one that came here right to my own city.
And when I got in the car there was Zita and Niamh to take me home. And I was not even a bit scared.
Everybody was late tonight. I had my dinner before Zita and Niamh got home.
And when they got home everybody was nearly starved away.
So all the ladies, and me. Because I am a lady too.
We went in the fast car to Mister McDonald’s store because you do not even have to get out of the car.
When we got home it was time for my second dinner.
