Day Two Hundred and Sixty Four

Miss Pancake

Niamh and I had a very big sleep in this morning.

We did not wake up until Craig was all awake and even all dressed. My goodness me.

Because Niamh and I were up until very late last night.

Watching the television. Together in the bed in the den.

But before she got home I was very very busy guarding my house.

Because there were lots and lots of people on my corner.

And they were very loud. And some of then had sick tummies too. My goodness me.

I barked very fiercely at them. So they would all know that I was guarding my house.

But one boy ran up our walk waving his arms.

So I jumped up and put my feet on the window. And he ran right away.

And all his friends laughed at him. Ha. Good for me.

Then a police car went down our street with all it very bright lights on. Then lots of those people went away. Ha.

When Niamh got home she said she and Lee could almost not get home because of the silly people.

Then, when we went to bed, we had ice cream.

That is why we were fast asleep when Craig got up. Oh well.

So I did not have my breakfast so early today. But I did not starve.

Maybe because of the ice cream.

After Niamh had her bath my friend Lee came to say goodbye to us.

Before they went to Toronto to find the go to Greece aeroplane. That was nice.

Then Niamh and I had a little run all around in Lee and Cara’s backyard.

But it is not Cara’s anymore.

Because Cara does not live there anymore.

She has her own little house. And Mister Devon lives there too.

I did not know that. Nobody told me.

Then when Niamh was all awake she went to her shop in the fast car.

So Craig and I had tasty croissants with jam.

But then it was time for my morning nap.

Festis and Furrgus

Well when we got up the whole hose was strangely quiet, except for the sound of the wonderful air conditioning.

My brother peeked in and all were fast fast asleep. Miss P was entirely wrapped around our Niamh.

Considering last night’s ructions it came as no surprise.

There was some sort of concert at Landsdowne and on completion the revellers flooded the streets.

Some being rather the worse for wear I must say.

A bunch of them were sitting on our lawn at the corner.

Well as you can only imagine Miss Pancake was having none of these shenanigans on her property .

And made her presence and her opinions loudly known.

One of the louts took up the challenge and ran up the walkway.

Dugal immediately produced a Kukri and advanced to the front door.

Well that was redundant.

Miss P literally rose to the occasion.

She jumped up placing her paws high up on the window.

Now while she is not nearly fully grown, she is a lanky young thing. And on standing up, fully extended, she is over five foot.

The sight of this arising to the confrontation was far too much for the potential mischief maker and he fled.

Accompanied by the raucous laughter of his audience.

Moments later a police truck slowly came down the street, lights ablaze and the crowd found that it had pressing appointments elsewhere.

Well as peace returned to the corner we could hear Miss Poppy’s barks of approval from on high.

“Well done young Pancake, well done.”

We then went on patrol, sword canes close by hand, and when assured the silliness had vanished, we proceeded to Irene’s for the last set.

When we got home young Niamh and her furry friend were watching the television from the sofa bed.

We left them to their own devices and went to our own beds.

A day well done I must say.

Miss Pancake

I had a very lovely long nap and Craig did not even wake me up at lunchtime.

Because I had a very very late breakfast.

And he thought I needed my beauty sleep. That was a good idea.

So Craig and I had a very relaxing day all day today.

It was not so hot outside today, but I did not have any outside naps.

Because my chair and my living room bed are more comfy when you are tired.

My friend Zita is still in Ireland.

With her own parents.

And today her mother was reading my story when she was having her afternoon treats.

But tomorrow Zita is going on a train to Cork. To visit Emmet.

To visit Emmet and maybe see Emmet and Alice’s new apartment. Maybe.

I knew a secret but I could not tell everybody right away.

Because Emmet asked me not to. Oh my goodness me. A real secret.

Just like those spies on the television.

But now I can tell everyone. Ha.

The University is going to give my friend Emmet real Irish money, to write more important stories, and to teach people at the university. Oh my goodness.

Now Emmet and Doctor Alice both have interesting jobs. Just like me. Ha.

Festis and Furrgus

We the cat is out of the bag.

Emmet has been offered and accepted a Post Doctoral appointment at his university. Well dome Emmet.

A Post Doc and an apartment surrounded by trendy cafés and in one week. My goodness me.

Apparently, in a moment of self sacrifice, Dugal has booked us in, at his expense, for a celebratory dinner at the Cocoette.

Now how this will help Emmet, is beyond our ken, but we would never turn down an opportunity to take advantage of Dugal’s largesse.

I mean buying a thousand pounds of Google stock on day one, what can one say.

Anyway we spect the rest of the after perusing the menu.

Trying not to focus in on the just the charcuteries.

By the time Miss Niamh arrived home we had just called for a taxi.

Wishing everyone a pleasant evening we were off to spend Dugal’s money.

In order to honour Emmet academic success you understand.

Well there is a smidgen of truth in there.

Hidden somewhere between the main course and dessert I think.
