Day Two Hundred and Twenty Two

Miss Pancake

It was another very beautiful day today.

So Zita and I went to the farm before it got too hot for us.

But because of all the very beautiful flowers, the whole world was on all the streets going to our farm. My goodness.

But we got there anyway.

And we ran all over. And we practiced my homework too.

Now all the fields where I practice are filled with beautiful little flowers.

They are especially for the buzzy bees.

So we can have honey for our lunchtime sandwiches.

I was a good listener today.

The other day I did not listen so well and only got not even so many treats.

You only get lots of treats when you are a very good listener. It is known. Oh well.

But when we came home we went on a different street and it was all filled with people too.

Looking at the beautiful flowers.

And there were families having picnics all over.

Because there were restaurants in tents. Right there with the flowers.

And they had lots of very tasty treats there. My goodness me.

But we got home anyway and we were not too late to take Niamh to her lovely shop. Good for us.

Then we went to visit our friend Sue in her just for nice dogs store.

Because I am getting so big I have to have a seatbelt to be safe in the car.

Because everybody has to use their seatbelts in the car. It is the law.

So now I have my own seatbelt. Ha.

And yesterday Zita got me a brand new toy at Sue’s store.

And it is a very good one too. My goodness that is a good store.

Festis and Furrus

We had a very disturbing incident yesterday. For which we must take full responsibility.

A squirrel decapitated one of our tulips. Right on our patio.

And there is photographic evidence of the crime.

We had always relied on Miss Poppy’s eternal vigilance to alert us before such incidents could occur.

But Miss Pancake has not got to the appropriate stage of her training to be effective as yet.

We really should have taken that into consideration when assigning patrol duties. But we did not.

So we have contritely apologized to Mrs. T.

Now as predicted the traffic caused by the Tulip Festival was enormous.

The crowds had assembled even as we set out on morning patrol.

They were even taking pictures of our garden. Which is admittedly festooned with tulips.

Dugal was about to ask them for identification. But we intervened before he could construct an incident.

So after avoiding the tourists we made it to the reliable Sunset Gill for breakfast.

Landsdowne was a bit overrun too.

So we did not linger.

We got home unscathed and Zita and Miss P had just arrived just as we did.

Miss P was exceptionally proud of her safety harness.

A necessity in modern traffic in our opinion.

But trying to convince Morag to tether her herd has proved predictably fruitless.

She says the travelling in the back of that Speed 12 is as safe as can be.

As I said fruitless.

And she has to justify having both Bentleys.

I am sure Lochlainn’s LWB Land Rover would do a fine job in our opinion.

Served Dugal to perfection in the Western Dessert he claims.

But I can not see Morag pulling up to Balmoral in one.

And the dogs would certainly object.

Miss Pancake

When we got home I minded Zita when she had her coffee. That is a good job for me.

Then it was my lunchtime.

But Zita was outside in the side yard. Making it all tidy.

So it was very difficult because, I had to run back and forth between Zita and my lunch. Oh dear.

Then Zita went to the front garden.

But I could not go and I got in trouble for too much barking. Too bad for me.

And when I looked out my window I saw it.

A squirrel killed one of my beautiful flowers.

And I did not stop it. I did not even know it happened. Oh my goodness.

And that is my job. Oh dear.

My friends the Badgers said that they thought I was out practicing my nice walking. When it happened.

What am I going to say to Miss Poppy.

Protecting the house from squirrels is one of my very important jobs.

She told me before I even got here. Oh my goodness.

I think she will be disappointed. Oh my goodness me.

I will have to talk to her tonight when everybody is fast asleep.

Maybe Craig and Zita do not know. Oh my goodness.

I do not know why we have squirrels. They are not such nice neighbours.

And when I looked out my windows my street was full of people everywhere.

I think they were all lost. Oh dear. Too bad for them.

Now some of our big trees have beautiful smelling flowers on them.

So now our outside smells wonderful. Good for us.

This afternoon Zita went off without me to do some important errands.

Because I stayed here to guard our beautiful flowers from that nasty squirrel. Oh my goodness.

And when Zita came home we went to get Niamh from her shop.

But we had to leave early because of the so many cars everywhere.

Mister Colonel Furrgus said he would sit in the outside swing and guard the flowers while I was busy with my other job. That was nice.

He took his especially sharp, from Japan sword with him. Just in case. Ha.

When we went to get Niamh I wore my brand new very safe seatbelt.

And when I put my head out the window I could smell everything in the whole city. Ha.

And when I do that I get flappy ears.

That is my favourite kind of car ride. It is known.

And when we got home we cooked hotdogs on our outside stove. And had them for dinner.

Then Niamh and Tarry went out with Sach.

So Craig and Zita and I had lots of time to watch the dangerous spies program.
